Biography

Dr Remohí is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the founder and co-president of the Valencian Infertility Institute – Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad (IVI), the first Spanish institution entirely specialized in human assisted reproduction. He studied medicine at the University of Valencia, completing his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Hospital Clínico of this city and completing the subspeciality training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Irvine University, California (USA). In addition, he received a Ph.D. in maternal fetal medicine in 1984 and sexology in 1986.

Professor Remohí founded the ‘Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad’ (‘IVI’) in 1990 together with Professor Pellicer, and his work in the reproduction field has led to the expansion of IVI both nationally and internationally.  IVI is a European leader in reproductive medicine due to their clinical results and has more than 70 clinics across 13 countries.
Currently, he is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Valencia, as well as Director of the Master’s Degree in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery at the University of Valencia and Director of the IVI University Institute. He is also Vice President of the IVI Foundation and a Member of the Advisory Board of both the European University of Madrid and Valencia.

Dr. Remohí has published more than 650 works in national and international journals, 385 book chapters related to human reproduction, and had approximately 950 presentations at National and International Scientific Meetings. Professor Remohí is considered one of the most prolific scientists in reproductive medicine; he holds the third position in the category of Reproductive Biology in Spain, with 510 publications and an h-index of 55. In the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Prof. Remohí takes on the fourth place, with 497 publications and an h-index of 52. In addition, Dr. Remohí edited 22 books on reproductive medicine, 2 of which have been translated into English, one into Portuguese and another one into Chinese. He has been Director of 23 dissertations, most of them awarded with “Cum Laude” distinction, and as an investigator he has participated in 11 projects, nationally and internationally.

Professor Remohí has been awarded with numerous prizes for his contribution to the reproductive health field, including the Ares-Serono Foundation Award in 1997, awards from the ASRM in 1995, 1999, 2001, 2008 and 2014; and research prizes form the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF) in 1987, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004. In addition, he has received several social recognitions, such as Protagonistas Onda Cero Prize to the best scientific career in 2002, Investigación Economía 3 Prize in 2004, the Gold Medal of the city of Valencia to IVI in 2006 in recognition to his pioneering research and educational work, Breakthrough Company of the Year Prize by the Expansión Journal in 2009, Tendencias Journal Prize in 2015 and the distinction which recognizes IVI as “Honorary Ambassador of Marca España” of Science and Innovation, among others.
