Dr. José Manuel Puente Agueda is an assistant physician of the Fetal Medicine Unit of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Hospital “12 de Octubre” of Madrid since 1995 and physician of the Imaging Unit of the Valencian Institute of Infertility (IVI) of Madrid since 2005.
He obtained his M.D. degree at the Complutense University of Madrid (1983-89) and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid (1993-96). He obtained his Doctorate degree “cum laudem” in medicine with the Doctoral Thesis entitled “Perinatal Mortality: Indices, etiology and factors that influence it”, under the direction of Mr. José Manuel Hernández García, Professor and Chief of Service of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University Hospital “12 de Octubre” of Madrid.
Dr. José Manuel Puente Agueda has been an associate professor in Health Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid and Teaching Expert and Member of the Board of Directors of the Section of ultrasound of the Spanish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SEGO).
He authored more than 50 abstracts at various national and international scientific meetings and numerous articles in the field of ultrasound and reproductive medicine. His primary area of research include ultrasound application to assisted reproduction.
He is currently a member of the Working Group for the development of a Clinical Practice Guide for Management of the patient with Endometriosis, Spanish Society of Fertility, and the Working Group for the elaboration of a Practical Assistance Guide: sonohisterography salpingosonohisterography of the Section of Ultrasound of the Spanish Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics. He is the co-director of the Obstetrics and Neonatology Solidarity Course of the Hospital “12 de Octubre, (7 editions) related to international cooperation projects. He is a reviewer for the journal “Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology”
