Abstract

Advances in medically assisted reproduction led to new understanding of many key facets of reproductive physiology often upending prior dogma. This series of reviews covers unexpected and thought-provoking advances in the hypothalamus and pituitary, folliculogenesis, ovulatory triggering, what triggering misses physiologically, control of follicular growth and in vitro activation, and the relationship between male genitourinary birth defects and male infertility.
